Motorized Pallet Truck
A Motorized Pallet Truck normally goes by other names such as: Walkie-Rider, Rider or Walkie. These pieces of machinery are basically a motorized version of a pallet jack. They are available in both "Walkie" models as well as "Rider" versions.
Just as the name implies, the walkie type is designed for the operator to walk along with the unit as they transport cargo. The Rider model however, uses a small platform wherein the operator stands on. The rider models are ideal for frequent transporting of loads over extended distances within manufacturing operations and warehouses. They are highly maneuverable and fast.
It is essential to remember that there is no safety cage on this model and thus, it is not recommended to transport unstable or tall loads with these machinery. A rider can be the perfect answer if you are looking for an inexpensive way of transporting cargo from point A to point B. If though, you should move heavy loads short distances, and prefer to utilize a more employee-friendly unit rather than a pallet jack, the walkie model can be the right option.
Order Selector
An Order Selector also goes by the name of Order picker. This machine is specifically designed for manual handling of less-than-pallet-load quantities in racking. There are fixed forks connected to a platform in the Man-up design. This particular platform elevates both the operator and the load in order to facilitate manual loading and unloading from racking areas.
Order Selectors are usually very narrow aisle vehicles that can function in aisles of less than six feet. They are really handy pieces of machinery in physical inventories as well as in cycle counting situations. Order selectors are available in lift heights up to 40 feet high, although models which range in the 20 to 30 foot range are much more common.
